Camping...two weekends in a row.

Camping two weeks in a row is the perfect start to any summer, imo.

Last year I had to ask someone what imo meant. (Rookie, I know.)

Oh well, the past is the past, and this year I'm rockin' it.

Sort of like how I "rocked" going camping one weekend, going out of town during the next week for work, and then going camping again the next weekend, which happened to be the day I got home from out of town.

Packing was pretty easy that month. :)

Anyways, here are some pictures from our camping trip like 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Turns out I like to post *lots* of pictures on the blog. Also, I'm pretty indecisive, so I have a hard time deciding which pictures should stay and go.

But I don't like to wait for them to individually load.

So, I throw them all together into a collage (Well, not really throw...sometimes I try to make the pictures look pretty, and put them in a collage with other pictures that "flow".

That way I only have to wait for a few pictures (of pictures) to upload.

I know it's taking the easy way out.

Don't judge.

1-- I've always wanted Trey to love the water. Kinda weird, I know. There's just something about a puppy swimming, playing in water, that I absolutely adore. This time when we went camping, I decided to trick him by throwing a rock into the river behind our tent and tell him to "Go get it!" (I knew he wouldn't want anything to do with the water if I just told him to "Go in") Being the disciplined doggie that he is, he ran right into the water. I know if he could speak English, he would have thanked me over and over. From that point on, we couldn't really get him *out* of the water. He really loved it! It also helped while we were packing things up, I'd throw a rock in and tell him to go get it and he'd spend a good 20 minutes in the river looking for the same exact rock that I threw :). I am almost as excited as I was the first time he lifted his leg to pee on a tree

2-- I'm trying to talk Trav into us getting a truck. In the meantime, Trey and I share the front seat. Um, not necessarily a favorite of either of ours. I suppose it's good "quality" time though. I took the first picture on the way up, and the second one on the way back. He was a tired little boy on the way home. I don't blame him though. Peeing and marking territory on every single tree within a mile radius has got to be rough. He lives a rough life I tell ya

3-- I adore these flowers, and love how they look against the black car that was passing them. I bet the people in the black car thought that I thought they (or their car) was awesome, but that's not the case. They can still think that though, I suppose.

We saw this blazer catch on fire on the way up the mountain. I didn't know that the name of the vehicle was a literal name. That's a super quick way to put a damper on things. (Note to self: Don't buy a blazer

4-- Camping was wonderful, as always! Someone was in *our spot* so we had to camp right next to it, which wasn't so bad...but we're thinking about putting a permanant sign by our spot that says "The Johnsons" or something. I hope that's not illegal. We did all of the usual things: Fished, Rafted, Canoed, Cooked, Hung out, Made someone fall out of a boat, Laughed, and had a great time! --Even the falling out of the boat (canoe) part. One thing that we tried that we'd never done before was cook "Hobo Dinners". These are probably the most amazing thing in the world! I highly suggest them..we are definitely going to add this little dinner to each of our camping trips from now on!!

First Camping Trip--2010

Well we finally had a weekend where the weather wasn't cold and rainy so we went camping with Trav's family (Dad, Mom, Brother, Sister, Nephew's, and Nieces). My sister Kassi came along this time too, which I think is actually her first time camping with us, so that was really nice! I took lots of (but not enough) pictures, as always! Enjoy..and look forward to more during this next week...we're going camping again this weekend!! Woohoo!

When we first got there, someone (genius) showed the kids how to throw rocks into the lake. They were occupied with this for about 2 hours! Then on Sunday when we were packing up, it kept them busy again, so that was awesome!

I know it's one of the most popular things to take a picture of, but I enjoy taking pictures of the sunset on the water, it's so unbelievably pretty!

Pictures from the drive up (we went to Scofield in Price, Utah) and some from the trip.

Trav's dad brought his boat but for the most part, we played on the shore. Tyler was SO excited to catch a fish. He kept saying over and over that "He just caught 4 fish last weekend, and was really good at it!"...He ended up catching the biggest fish this weekend, so he was pretty stoked about that!

With the little fire that we were able to make (Scofield has close to nothing for wood), Duane needed to retire an old American Flag. That was pretty cool. I'd never seen that done before. Some of the pictures turned out really good! I love the Stars one.

I can't wait for this weekend, we're going up into the Uintah's, where we usually go, and it's soooo pretty up there!! The fishing is fantastic, too!! I'll be back later to post some pics of this weekend. Trav was in his cousin's wedding last weekend as well and I need to get pics up from that. AND, my garden is starting to look more like a garden! My plants are growing and I need to update! Coming soon, I promise!! Dang it! I'm so behind!!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Preview. Sit tight!

We went camping this weekend and I got some really cool pictures! It's going to take a few days probably to get them posted because I have a few setbacks (See: messy house, still need to unpack from my week of work in Price, Utah, still need to unpack from camping this weekend, sunburned, and tired) but here's one to enjoy in the meantime.

Oh, and my Etsy shop (Jump there with the button on my sidebar) showcased on Saturday. That's all sorts of exciting!!

Happy Monday!

Boys and Girls. I broke 100 posts today. I think that's pretty awesome.

The post I have to break it with is going to be really lengthy only because I have a TON of pictures I need to upload from this weekend's camping trip, so sit back...grab some popcorn, and be excited! :)

I absolutely LOVE the pictures where everything reflects off of the water! I took this one out in the middle of Teapot lake while we were fishing on the raft.

Trav's first decent sized fish. (The ones we caught in the river were about half that size!) And look how colorful and pretty he/she was!

If you look pretty closely, you can see a really tall tree with something on the top of it! Well my friends, that is an EAGLE NEST!! Not only did we get to see the nest, but we saw a couple eagles flying to and from it all day while we were in the raft!

Ok, so this is just your normal, every day sign, I know...but it means so much more to me. This sign is victory for me. It's bragging rights and therefore, I love it. A few weeks ago, I was talking to my friend at work who was telling me that her husband had gone up to Teapot lake (in the Uinta's) this year and did very, very well...catching fish almost all over a foot long. I then go home and proceed to tell Trav that when we go camping, we need to make a stop at teapot because we pass it everytime and have never tried it out. He looks at me like I'm retarded and says "There is no teapot lake in the Uinta's. You're crazy, and thinking about something else." We argue about it for a minute because I KNOW I am right. Finally I give it up and end on the fact that I will just show him the lake when we're in the mountains. He then comes home the next day from work and says "I checked with everyone at work and no one has heard of a Teapot lake...I have been going to the Uinta's before you were born (according to him, he has experienced a lifetime worth of things "before I was born") and assures me, once again that there is no Teapot lake. I just agree and think to myself this is getting better and better. So we get up into the mountains, go to our spots, get all set up and all that fun stuff and decide to go to the lake. We pass Lilly and Lost lake, which I told him Teapot was right there...and we don't see Teapot for some reason so I get a boatload of crap from him of course. At that point I was kind of confused...I could have sworn it was up there...right by those lakes. So, the next day we decide to go to Mirror Lake which is about 5 miles up the road from our campsite and on the way back...it happened so perfectly. At the same exact time we both noticed something. I notice a sign that says "Teapot Lake" and he notices an unfamiliar body of water. He says to me "Hey, what lake is that?" I look at him with the largest smile ever and pleasantly say "Oh that? That's Teapot Lake."
I win.

Trey went with us and it was his first camping trip ever, he ab.so.lute.ly loved it. He honestly peed on every. single. tree. at our campground, and if you notice at all from the pictures...there are quite a few. He was a busy little boy. This picture however, is one showing what the cruel mosquitoes did to his face!! It got worse that night too :( We felt SO bad. After we noticed, we put some bug spray on him and he was freeeeeeeaking out haha...running around everywhere...chasing the smoke from the fire...rubbing himself on the dirt, just bein crazy...but it worked and in the morning he was much, much better, and less swollen.
*disclaimer- Trey does not have a big head...it just appears that way in this picture because of the massive amounts of mosquito bites on his face. He would appreciate that I include that.*

haha. In this picture, there is a little chipmunk. Again, even though I took PLENTY of pictures this camping trip, I wish I would have had more pictures of this little incident. So, I'm sitting on a chair by the fire, just relaxing and all of a sudden I look up to see this chipmunk on a rock about 20 feet away, eating something. I instantly look at Trey to see if he has noticed yet. I got Travis's attention and we both look over to see Trey move his head back in disbelief and confusion...he has never seen anything like this before. So about .5 seconds after doing that, he gets up and RUNS to the rock to go figure out what this thing is. The chipmunk...probably having done this a time or two before, runs up the tree. Trey hurries and hops up onto the rock and puts his two front paws on the tree, as if he is going to be supertrey and climb it. That obviously wasn't going to happen. So he stood there, and waited. As did the chipmunk, in the tree. Finally Trey got tired and came back over by us to lay down. Sure enough, minutes later, the chipmunk is back down on the rock. Rinse, lather, and repeat. Trey runs back over there...chipmunk runs back up the tree. This happened about 4 times before Trey figured he was going to try and outsmart this little chipmunk. Instead of coming all the way back over to lay by us, he laid closer to the rock, so he didnt have to run as far and so that he could catch this little thing. His plan obviously failed but he is a trooper and played with this little chipmunk for about an hour! haha
It was thundery for a little while but all in all it was perfect weather!! It was still pretty warm when it was thundering, and the thunder was pretty far away, just cool to listen to!

You can kinda see his swollen face here. I just mainly love the crossed legs. They force me to bust out the camera every single time.

We had fun stocking up the fire and cutting wood!

Small view of the sunset!

I saw a deer in our campsite!! So, by the time I went to grab my camera, a car had passed, scaring him so he crossed the street. At first I stood on the other side of the street and took a million pictures of him because I thought it was soo cool to be in that distance of a deer and have him just chill and pose for me (even though all of his poses were the same ;)) Finally I built up the courage to cross the street to get a closer pic and he still stayed there!!! It was so so awesome!

This was before he crossed the street.

Mirror Lake.
We took Trey fishing and I tried to get him to swim and it was the funniest thing ever!! I would tell him, "Trey! Go in the water!" and he would look at me like I was crazy...so finally I had to take my shoes and socks off, roll up my pants, and walk WITH him in the water. At that point, I picked up a rock and threw it just past where the water started to get deep to see if he would take a swim, because he was loving the water and he didn't want any part of that!! lol He would run as fast as he could to the point where the water was about level with his neck then he would turn around and face me and slowly inch backwards. When he could tell that there was a dropoff, he would run back to me. haha. I suppose I will have to teach him how to swim another time.

Fishin till the sun goes down!

Eagle Pass view!

Trial Lake.

Acting like he owned the place...he would do this in between peeing on the trees.

We walked for about a mile down the river, fishing in the good spots. The walk down was so much fun...but the walk up? Not so much. I was able to get some really good pics of the river though, it has random waterfalls in some parts, it was gorgeous!!

Another waterfall.

And a baby one.

and last but definitely not least, one of my favorites :)

Memorial Weekend...

...consisted of white marbles falling from the sky, (I have NEVER in my life seen hail this size. I was completely amazed. In the midst of being scared for my winshield and car's lives, I actually enjoyed watching it come down. I still cannot get over the size of iceballs falling from the sky. Wow!)
lots and lots and LOTS of rain,

and someones bright idea to do construction on a two-lane canyon on Memorial weekend-making a two hour trip home into a 3 1/2 hour trip home...
It was fantastic.

Other than those minor things, our Memorial weekend was great! We had planned on going camping, as we usually do. Travis's birthday is on May 23rd so it always falls on or around opening weekend for camping, which is fun...most of the time!

This time we were only able to camp for one night mainly because of the rain and partly because we were camping at Scofield in Price and I'm not going to lie, that place sucks!! Our tent was about 20 feet from the lake which at any other lake would have been great. Mostly because any other lake would contain fish. This one did not. I literally had my pole in the water at LEAST 20 hours and pulled out ONE fish. one. dinky. little. fish. In fact...I was so excited to reel this baby in and take him off of the hook that I forgot to take a picture of said fish. Travis had his pole in the water for about the same length of time and caught NO fish.

We ended up packing up camp and heading back to Price. We stopped at a little river on the way back, no luck.

We decided to go to a kiddie fishing pond in Helper. A fish is a fish, right? We didn't care about it being a kiddie pond!! We were just ready to catch some fish!! If I had a waterproof camera, I would have taken pictures but I cannot even explain the amount of rain that was coming down. So, for my cameras sake, she stayed tucked away in her case. It was so crazy!! What was even crazier was the amount of people fishing at the kiddie pond IN this rain, not even just kids either!! Maybe everyone was at Scofield and resorted to the kiddie pond...We got our hoodies and coats on and cast out into the water. I caught 4 or 5 fish before Trav even had a bite, lol...I always feel bad when that happens. I tried to give him my pole when I had another one biting and he refused to take the pole that "I" had just casted out! Fine!! He eventually got his first one, yay :) and the weather cleared up a little, which was really nice. We stayed there for about 5 hours. I caught around 10, and he caught around 6. It was a good end to a pretty crappy weekend. I love having someone who loves to fish as much as I do. We would look at each other at the same time, say "You ready" answer yes, and then both of us would cast back out.

haha, I forgot about this but when we first got to the kiddie pond, we went to the closest spot because we didnt really plan on staying very long because the rain was seriously coming down!! We agreed to each catch one fish and then peace out. It was SUPER windy and the wind was coming toward us, making it really difficult to cast out. I casted out and it didnt go very far, but I didnt care. I was cold and I knew the wind was going to make it really hard. So, I left it there. Travis saw how close to the shore it was, laughed at me and said "Let me show you how a pro does it." He then gets in his casting stance, releases his line, and steps back and BAM! slips and falls on the rock he was standing on to cast. hahaha. It didn't hurt anything except for maybe his ego. The awesome part is because it is such a small pond, a guy fishing on the other side of the pond watched it happen and yelled "Are you okay??" lol, so if anyone is wondering how a "Pro" casts in the wind and rain, ask Travis. He knows. He'll even demonstrate.
